Day 1 Arrival at New Delhi International Airport
Today, to start your Hornbill Festival Nagaland & Northeast India Group Tour, you will be met at New Delhi International Airport by Summit Safari’s representative and driver, who will transfer you to your hotel in New Delhi. The rest of the day is free to relax after your flight. In the evening during dinner, you will meet the other members joining this Escorted Small Group Holiday Tour to India.

Day 2 Fly from New Delhi to Guwahati
After breakfast, transfer to the New Delhi airport for your flight to Guwahati, the capital of Assam and the commercial hub of Northeast India. On arrival, enjoy a traditional welcome and transfer to your hotel. In the late afternoon, visit the Kamakhya Temple and enjoy a guided stroll through Guwahati’s local market to discover its culture, flavors, and everyday life take a walking tour around the local market in Guwahati to get the insight. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3 Guwahati to Kaziranga National Park
After breakfast at 09:00 A.M., check out and drive to Kaziranga National Park (205 km / 5 hours) as part of your Northeast India tour. En route, make a spiritual stop at the Maha Mrityunjay Mandir in Nagaon, 120 km from Guwahati, with short comfort breaks along the way. Arrive at Kaziranga by late afternoon and check in to your hotel for a 2-night stay.
Kaziranga National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is famous for the Great Indian One-Horned Rhinoceros and diverse wildlife including Tigers, Elephants, Wild Water Buffalo, Swamp Deer, and a rich variety of birds. The park's landscape of dense forests, tall elephant grass, marshes, and shallow pools offers a stunning natural setting.
In the evening enjoy an Assam cultural performance, showcasing local music and dance, providing insight into the vibrant traditions of the region. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4 Kaziranga National Park – Game Drive and Village Cultural Experience
Early morning, embark on a jeep safari game drive in Kaziranga National Park, spotting the iconic Great Indian One-Horned Rhinoceros, elephants, wild water buffalo, and swamp deer. Return to the hotel for breakfast and, at 11:30 AM, drive to a nearby village for an authentic village and cultural tourism experience in Kaziranga. Here, you will join a local family for a traditional Assamese lunch, gaining first-hand insight into the daily life, customs, and culinary traditions of the region. This immersive experience provides a rare glimpse into rural Assam, connecting you with local culture beyond the usual tourist trail.
Return to the hotel in the late afternoon, with free time to explore the local market or enjoy a short walk.

Day 5 Kaziranga to Jorhat
After breakfast, check out and drive to Jorhat (110 km / 3.5 hours), famous for its Assam tea plantations, as part of your Hornbill Festival Nagaland & Northeast India Group Tour. En route, you will visit and interact with local artisans, observing traditional crafts such as bamboo basket weaving, metal agricultural tools, and musical instrument making, offering an authentic Northeast India cultural experience. Upon arrival, check in to your tea bungalow for 2 nights. In the late afternoon, enjoy a guided tea estate tour and tasting session with an expert estate manager. The evening is free to stroll around the plantations or enjoy golf at the estate’s course, completing another memorable day of your Escorted Small Group Holiday Tour in Northeast India.
Important Note: Tea plucking does not take place from late November to mid-March. Visits to tea factories are subject to their operational schedule and may not be possible if the factory is closed. Please note that most tea factories remain closed on Mondays.

Day 6 Jorhat to Majuli Islands and Return
After early breakfast, drive to Nimati Ghat (45 minutes) and board the ferry to Majuli Islands (1-hour ferry ride). Explore this offbeat rural destination in Northeast India and observe the life of local tribal communities, including the Tibeto-Burman Mongoloid clan. Majuli, located in the Brahmaputra River, is the world’s largest freshwater river island (1,250 sq km) and home to numerous Satras, centers of traditional performing arts propagated by Saints Sankardev and Madhavdev.
Visit a potter’s house to witness traditional clay craft, meet a local mask-making artist, and explore a Satra to understand the religious, cultural, and artistic heritage of Assam. This rural and cultural tour in Majuli offers a rare insight into authentic village life and the traditions of Northeast India. Return by ferry to Nimati Ghat and drive back to Jorhat for overnight stay.

Day 7 Jorhat to Kohima
After breakfast, check out and drive to Kohima (198 km / 7 hours), the capital of Nagaland and the hub of the Hornbill Festival Nagaland & Northeast India Group Tour. Leaving Assam behind, you will enter the scenic landscapes of Nagaland, passing through Assam tea plantations and charming rural villages. En route, pass through Dimapur, the former capital of the Kachari tribe, and stop for lunch and comfort breaks. Meet local pineapple sellers along the way and enjoy tasting fresh, locally grown pineapples. In the evening, arrive in Kohima and check in to a guest house or home stay for 2 nights, experiencing authentic village-style accommodation in Nagaland.
Please Note: Accommodation in Kohima; Options in Kohima are limited, and during the Hornbill Festival Nagaland & Northeast India Group Tour, securing the best available accommodation becomes even more challenging. You will stay in neat and clean guest houses or home stays with basic facilities and attached western toilets.
Guests should be prepared to spend 2 nights in simple, tidy accommodation during the tour. Last-minute changes or availability of rooms are generally not possible, so it is strongly recommended to book your Hornbill Festival tour well in advance to secure your stay in Kohima.

Day 8 Kohima to Kisma – Hornbill Festival Visit
After breakfast, drive to Kisma Heritage Village, the venue of the Hornbill Festival Nagaland India. From 9:30 AM, explore the festival showcasing traditional music, dance performances, tribal games such as chilli-eating and pineapple-eating competitions, and the culture of 17 Naga tribes. Lunch at the festival allows you to taste traditional local cuisine. Return to Kohima for the night.

Day 9 Kohima – Hornbill Festival Visit & Afternoon Drive To Dimapur
After breakfast, revisit the Kisma Heritage Village to enjoy half-day cultural performances, including the legendary Konyak Tribe, known for their historic headhunting traditions. At 1:30 P.M., drive to the Kohima WWII Memorial, a site of historical significance, and later proceed to Dimapur (80 km / 3.5 hours) for overnight stay.

Day 10 Dimapur to New Delhi
After breakfast, visit the famous Jain Temple in Dimapur. Transfer to Dimapur Airport for your flight to New Delhi. On arrival, transfer to your hotel. Depending on the flight schedule, optional complimentary sightseeing in New Delhi/Old Delhi may be arranged. Overnight stay in New Delhi

Arrangements
You will follow this itinerary as a private tour, supported by our local representatives at every stage of your journey. Your travel arrangements include arrival transfer from Guwahati Airport to your hotel, followed by guided local sightseeing in Guwahati. You will then travel from Guwahati to Kaziranga National Park by private vehicle, where jungle activities and wildlife experiences will be arranged as per the program. Continuing onward, your journey from Kaziranga to Jorhat to Majuli and back to Jorhat. From Jorhat to Kohima and further towards the Kisma village for Hornbill Festival. After Hornbill festival transfer to Dimapur. You will be transferred to Dimapur Airport for Domestic flight to New Delhi. At the end of your tour, you will transferred to New Delhi International Airport at the flight back home.
