For century's people in these remote valleys lived largely isolated from one another, holding and preserving the treasures and secrets of ancient civilizations untainted by modernity unmatched outside these mountains.
We drive on the Ancient Silk Route in Leh-Ladakh to Nubra Valley, over the world's highest Motorable road Khardungla Pass - 18,380 feet. We drive through picturesque Himalayan villages, explore old monasteries with monks, journey over the world highest mountain passes, getting close to glaciers and a number of high altitude lakes. We stop at villages and camps on the way to get an insight into the daily life of these nomadic people. In addition you get a chance to Raft on Indus River and can find the arts and handcrafts in local markets and villages of Ladakh.
The highlight of the tour is to visit the Pangong Lake (4,350 metres / 14, 300 feet) - largest in the Himalayas (5-7 kms broad at some points with a total length of 143 kms) and The Tsomoriri lake with the village Korzok in the remote Rupshu valley of the Himalayas. For centuries people in these remote valleys lived largely isolated from one another, holding and preserving the treasures and secrets of ancient civilizations untainted by modernity unmatched outside these mountains.

You will be met from your flight to Delhi International Airport by Summit Safari’s representative, and he will accompany you to your hotel in Delhi. Rest of the day is free at leisure to relax after the flight.

In the morning you will be transferred to Delhi airport to board your flight to Leh. The flight to Leh (approx. 1 hrs.) – the capital of Ladakh valley, presents some of the most beautiful views of the Zanskar Himalayas and Greater Himalayan ranges. Arrival at Leh airport, you will be received by our representative and transferred to the Hotel. Take your time to refresh yourself and rest properly to acclimatize with the high altitude at Leh. If interested in the late afternoon you can go for a walking tour of Leh market, of you own.

After breakfast 08:30 A.M we will be driving you for a full day sightseeing tour around Leh to Hemis monastery, Thikshe monastery, Shey Palace. These monasteries are a research and cultural centre for Buddhism . We will be back to Leh by late afternoon and in the evening we will visit the Leh Palace and the local market of Leh. Second night in the same hotel in leh.

Today after breakfast we will drive you to the famous monastery of Lamayuru at a height of 3,510 metres. Lamayuru is one of the largest monasteries in Ladakh. The monastery is made up of a number of shrines and also has a very rich collection of thanks and magnificent wall paintings. You can have lunch in a local restaurant and later we will drive you back to Leh. Overnight in hotel at Leh.

After breakfast we will be driving you to Pangong Lake (4,350 metres /14,500feet). Today we will cross Changla Pass 17,350 ft. It is the third Highest Motorable road in the world. Pangong Lake is the largest lake in the Himalayas situated at a height of about 4,350 metres (14,300 ft). It is 134 km long and extends from India to China (Chinese occupied Tibet) 60% of the length of the lake lies in China. The lake is 5 km wide at its broadest point. Spangmik, the farthest point to which foreigners are permitted, is only some seven km along the southern shore from the head of the lake, but it affords spectacular views of the mountains of the Changchenmo range to the north, their reflections shimmering in the ever-changing blues and greens of the lake’s brackish waters. Overnight in luxury tented accommodation at Spangmik- Pangong Lake at Alpen glow camp / similar.

Today after Breakfast we will spend our time walking around the lake and later drive you back to Leh town over the same route, on the way back there are chances to see marmots and even to meet the Nomadic people who come to the nearby mountains of Changla pass with their Yaks. Reach Leh by evening. Overnight in hotel in Leh.

After breakfast we will drive you on the Ancient Silk Route from to Nubra valley, over the world’s highest Motorable road Kardungla Pass- 18,380 feet will drive you to Nubra Valley via Khardung La Pass (Highest Motorable road in the World, 18,380 ft). Arrive at Deskit and check in to your hotel and after lunch drive to Hunder village (6-8 kms) where you can visit the sand dunes and enjoy the ride on double humped Bactrian camel. These double humped camels are left here from the time when silk caravans stopped trading through the old traditional routes in the modern times. Overnight in Nubra Deluxe Camp / hotel at Nubra.

After Breakfast we will visit the local monastery in Deskit and further drive you back to Leh town over the Khardung La pass and will reach Leh by late afternoon. Evening we will visit Shanti Stupa and will have a walking tour in the local market of Leh town. Overnight in hotel at Leh.

Today after breakfast we will make an early start to Tsomoriri Lake, which is picturesquely located in the beautiful Rupshu valley and this high altitude beautiful lake is around 250 kms from Leh town. Tsomoriri is approximately 28 kms long and up to 8 kms wide at some points. Tsomoriri lake attracts a range of wildlife including migratory birds, bar- headed goose, the great crested grebe, Brahmini ducks, brown headed gull, marmots and rarely the Tibetian wolf, Khyang etc. Korzok village with around 30-40 houses and a couple of yak skin tents is the only habitation in the area with a couple of seasonal tented accommodations for the tourists. Korzok village was region of nomadic kingdom and was on the important silk route in Central Asia. Here you can see the nomads in their yak skin tents in the summers. Apart from agriculture products Pashmina wool and salt are two valuable products that the Changpas tribe trade till date. Overnight in Luxury tented accommodation in Korzok village.
Today we spend our day walking around the lake and Korzok village. We will also make a small climb up to the hill top monastery of Korzok village; this offers great views of the village and the lake. The monastery houses the statue of Shakyamuni Buddha along with images of other deities. The monastery has beautiful Thankas (paintings on silk cloth), which have been restored. We spend our time talking to the nomadic people and relaxing in our fixed tented accommodation near the lake.
After breakfast we will drive to Tsokar Lake, The nomadic people Changpas are most outstanding feature of this area. They can be seen moving from one place to other grazing herds of goats, sheep and yaks. Changmas pass their days with their animals and move with their flocks, their only wealth from pasture to pasture according to changing season. Their flocks, their yaks, and goat’s hair furnish the raw material of which they make their ropes, their clothes and shoes. Nomadic people are busy milking yaks, churus, making the milk into butter, making ropes, weaving mats and other daily activities. These people have been completely beyond the pale of all civilizing influences. Even towards the fag end of the twenty first century, they belong to a primitive pre-historic age, The Drive is scenic and beautiful through the Tibetian plateau. Tsokar Lake is another beautiful lake in the isolated parts of Himalayas. Upon arrival in Tsokar you check in at seasonal tented accommodation.
Today After breakfast we checkout from our camp and drive to Leh through Tanglang La pass (5280 Mts.) the second highest Motorable pass in the world that commands breath taking views of the Zanskar range and the upper Indus valley. We stop on the way in the local eating places to sip a cup of tea and while following the Indus river and the spectular mountains views with green fields and purple mountains, sandy landscape we arrive in Leh – the capital of Ladakh valley, by early afternoon.
After breakfast, in the morning we will assist you to Leh airport to board the flight back to New Delhi. After your arrival at New Delhi airport you will be met & assisted by Summit Safari’s representative, and he will accompany you to your hotel. Check in at your hotel and have time to fresh up yourself, later on you may wish to go for a sightseeing tour of Delhi to view some of the famous sights of the town with a guide. We will take a walking tour of the Old Delhi covering the Chandani Chowk, historic Red Fort, and the busy market. If interested we will arrange for a bicycle rickshaw ride in old Delhi or a Tuk- Tuk ( Three wheeler ) ride in New Delhi for you. We will also visit Gandhi Smriti, also known as the Birla house where –Mahatma Gandhi had lived the last 144 days of his life from 09 September 1947 to 30 January 1948 when he was assassinated in 78th year of life at Birla House Prayer Grounds by Nathuram Godse . Thus, the house treasures many memories of his life. Return back to your hotel in the evening. Overnight stay in hotel in Delhi.

Today after breakfast at your hotel, you will be assisted and will be transfer to the international airport at New Delhi to board your return flight.
This is where the tour ends. However, if you wish to stay longer in Delhi or want to take extension tour, we can make arrangements for you to be transferred to the airport at a later time.
